The problem with that type of technology is it is reliant on another service (in this case, gas) to work. Solar has its problems, but I think it offers more in terms of self-sufficiency than most of the other options. I think I'd rather stump-up $25K for a solar/battery array, but that's just me......

I've got the same yak. Got it off eBay. Picked it up from a bloke named Adam somewhere on the other side of the wastegate bridge. I'm still using it all the time in western port. All the other guys (mainly cheater) write me off coz it's so small but I'm small & it does the job.

What sort of charger do you use with lithium batteries Shane? I guess they are waterproof otherwise it could be a fire hazard They come with their own charger so I just use that. As I understand it there's very little risk with these batteries, Li-polimer are another matter. These batteries aren't ...

If your current draw is under 1Amp which it should be unless your running 5meters of strip light then I would recommend a 7.2Ah 12v security alarm battery. They are about $22 from your jay car dealer. While your there grab a waterproof rocker switch about $12
