Re: Back beach cray dive

Yeah breath hold only. Most of my dives are, as i cover a fair distance surface swimming and there's no cumbersome tanks in the way whilst your crawling around in caves. Certainly less to carry to and from the car and along the beaches as well!

Back beach cray dive

Land based dive, rock hopping the back beaches. Managed to pull out a bag of 2 Crays in just over an hour. 1.5 and 1.8kg

Dive report - Sunday 20th

Got wet yesterday, down at one of my usual spots. Seeing the wind forecast the day before, I opted to dive shore based instead of taking the kayak predicting it to be a bit rough. Lesson learnt, take the kayak anyway, as when I got there it was glassed out. Swam out past the extension of Blairgowrie...

Re: Blairgowrie winter diving:

I find the red mullet fillet best once they've been chilled and firmed up a bit. Yeah I use a 5mm open cell wettie and can easily last a few hours in the water over winter

Re: Blairgowrie winter diving:

I anchor the kayak and then go approx 50-100m radius around it, whilst towing a float and dive flag. Works pretty well

Blairgowrie winter diving:

Bit of a delayed post from a week ago. Got out for a dive during the last week of the school holidays. Headed out from Blairgowrie in the arvo to a very welcome sight of a glassed out horizon. Water was a bit chilly, however the vis was great, about 7m. About 2hrs later and id got a reasonable feed ...

Not exactly bought....
However, my brother and I picked up some great prizes from this months edition of Fishing World.
Pity I'm gonna have to share :eh:

Flinders yak spearing

Out off flinders recently for a kayak based dive. Ordinary vis but still managed to find a PB rock flattie hiding in a sand hole inbetween all the weed. Ended up going 46cm
