Make sure you clean it really well and make sure it is 100% dry before you melt it.
If you drop some wax into the molten metal and stir it around it will help clean the metal by bringing the impurities to the top so you can scoop it off the top.

I'm 6'3" and 135kg and I've had both, I couldn't recommend the 12 over the 14, that said they are both fine.
If it were my desicion I'd go the 14.
Then again my 14 is for sale as I bought a TI so maybe my opinion is moot as I think the TI is a shitload better than the PA.
