yes I have wood - but have to work on a trailer this week end for Mr SeaSlurper
I also have to build a couple of extension tables for the band saw so the Paulownia planks to fit on while sawing the strips
how ever the strong back is finished and mounted on a frame , so basically ready to fit strips to

Interesting Stephen. When a young man of yesteryore, I used to help build clinker boats. Originally used Maranti strips, but later boats were built using marine ply.

Maranti was always chosen for its suitability for boat building and for its finished look in clear coat, most of the craftsmen would use it rather than ply as they were after looks not price
. When i was doing a course at Newport tafe a few year's back i would often spend my lunch time looking through the shipwrights building, it was like going for a walk through Mordialoc many years ago, there were some really nice boats to dream about
with lots of exotic timber lying around and there scent in the air.

Progress has been slow but some tooling was needed - some benches for my band saw to cut strips took a bit of time I also made up a trolley to move the hardback/kayak build around on
I was back on the kayak again this weekend I pulled the strong back out of the shed to get a good sighter on the water line marks and centre lines
a bit of adjustment and the whole lot was made tight and ready to strip
So a few strips are on, the funky shear line wasn't to much trouble the Paulownia bends fairly well and needed to
so from here it's just more of the same fitting and gluing strips for the time being
