Hobie Compass minor modification

Post by maverick »

Made a wave breaker for the front of the Compass, also provides a little extra storage for light things. Held in place by the Hobie mesh net. Cost about $10. First prototype and it works well. Small waves going over the bow deflect sideways, larger waves still run over the top, but a lot slower and don't run up the hull so far. Also helps balance the sideways drift in the wind, as it doesn't weathercock so badly now. (previously due to the esky behind me).

Looks great Pete. Anything to offset all the weight that always seems to be located rear of the seat will help redistribute the load and help the waterline

Yep, run the front of yak through a 3d scanner first, then make the mold, add some hot air and soft plastic, presto.

Needed a quick way to test the theory first.
