show us your home brew..

Caught anything lately? Post up how you cooked it here and if it was a success. Doesn't only have to be fish....

show us your home brew..

Post by yakgear »

I know a few will love to see and maybe learn..

This is my third brew.

Image

Its a coopers pilsener with nottingham ale yeast (not the coopers yeast) and 50/50 dextrose & light malt extract with the final 3 lts of water that was added had a bag (like tea bag) of grain in it for an hour, then added to wort to make up 23lts .

Its currently sitting on about 16.5 deg.

One thing I forgot was to take reading before adding yeast.. Oh well..

Knew G would like

Do it praz .. Just get the barrel, I have a washer, tree dryer and capper if you need to borrow.
Ingredients cost me $30 yesterday. This time though I will use plastic bottle (thanks brendanrage) damn stubbies take too long to fill :(

So $30 for 3 slabs is ok and if ya stumble onto a good mix  or :shhh:

Will send brendan his bottle back full when its done ..

have just done the same brew
didn't bother with the 50/50 and just used 1kg of the light dry malt. tea bag thingy sounds interesting. Ghurkins trick is only top it up to 17lt for a bigger flavor and alcohol content i guess ( not sure on the alcohol bit ) but I'm thinking with the extras your sticking in it the flavour should be the BOM.

Enjoy

Walked in to grape and vine told him I enjoy drinking the James squire bright, and away he went explained to me his thinking.

Hope its similar..

I have a secret weapon though, read about a brewer in Germany who makes some famous beer, he plays music (type is a secret) to is beer through the fermenting process..

Last batch had led zepplin 24 hours until done. This time its MMM 105.1 At night SEN during the day...

Tea bag...
Bloke at shop gave me a little bag of crushed grain from the fridge, told me to boil 3 litres pour grains into big tea bag (Also from shop) then pour it in barrel just before yeast.

Let it sit in boiling water for about 25 minutes, also had yeast in warm water waking up before joining his mates for the week long burping session.

It could fit 3x19lt or 1x50lt.
I sold it all because I couldn't walk passed it without pouring one. It became a trap. :pint:
