Some of you tasted my tandoori chicken and liked it and most of you would have tasted it else where and liked it, so i thought i would put a post of my authentic grandmum's recipe.....This recipe works well with Chicken/Prawn or fish just the cooking time will vary.....impress your guests next time when they turn up for a BBQ
Ingredients
1kg Chicken Thigh with bone or boneless if you prefer( Thigh is the juciest part of the chicken for this recipe, so try to use the thigh piece if possible)
1 tbs Chilli Powder( Can reduce this if you want it to be a bit mild)
1/2 tsp Garam Masala (It is a spice mix powder, you can get from indian shop)
1/4 spoon cardomom powder
4 tbs Greek yogurt( other yogurt does not taste good)
3 tbs Mustard oil
Salt to taste
1 Limes juice
1 pinch black salt (If you can get it or can ignore this)
2 pinch Red/orange food colour (You can ignore this if you are ok with the natural colour)
Mix all the above ingredients and maranate the chicken for atleast 2 hours or maranate in fridge overnight for better taste.......cook on a charcoal bbq( For added flavour) or on a normal bbq until cooked and brush some melted butter on top for added taste
Sprinkle some Chat masala and black salt on top (These are optional if you want authentic taste)
Dipping sauce:
1 cup yogurt
1 green chilli
30 mint leaves
10 coriander leaves(about 2 plants)
1 Pinch Black salt
1 Pinch Chat masala
salt to taste
Grint all the ingredients in a blender into a paste and serve in a small bowl
Serve the Tandoori chicken with dipping sauce, cucumber slices, red onion slices and tomato slices......let me know your feedback if you get to try this recipe.
Please note: All the ingredients will be available in any Indian/pakistani/sri lankan store

needs a good strong beer to go with it, very scrumdiddlyumptious Praz.
People laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at them because they're all the same.

G'day Praz, thanks for sharing, it looks tops.
I have never heard of 'Black Salt', has it been dyed, or possibly unrefined?

Black salt is made from some type of rock....it has a unique flavour with a bit of tangy taste.

If the black salt has such a unique taste, maybe it should be a compulsary ingredient, either way, I do intend to give your recipe a go in the near future.
Thanks again
