I found a KFC Popcorn Chicken like recipe on the net a while ago. I can get a bit addicted to the KFC ones every so often, which probably isnt a good thing for your health... but anyway!
My good wife didnt want fish for dinner tonight, said something about we will be turning into one soon if we have anymore!
I already had a couple of gummy shark fillets thawed out, when I had a brainwave....POPCORN GUMMY SHARK!!!!
Now laugh if you will...
Dont worry, my wife and step daughters did as well.
Until they tried them
After dinner, I found the recipe... made them, let them rest in the freezer for an hour, as per the recipe, and I just cooked them up.
Oh.... my.... god..... soooooooooo yummy!!!
I should of made more!!!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons Garlic paste
Salt and pepper to taste (about a teaspoon of each)
1 cup of Plain flour
1 Egg, beaten
2-3 tablespoons Milk
For Crusty Coating
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup crushed cornflakes (put the cornflakes in a ziplock bag and belt the barjeppers out of it a few times)
1 teaspoon Oregano flakes
1 teaspoon Red chilli flakes
1 teaspoon Paprika
Oil
Method:
Chop gummy shark into smallish squares, about 2cm x 2cm, and put them in a bowl.
Season with salt and pepper and add the garlic paste.
Mix well, and let it rest for 15mins to marinate.
In another bowl, add flour, salt, pepper and mix.... set aside
In another bowl, add the egg and milk, mix and set aside.
In another bowl, add the crusty coating ingredient, mixing well and set aside.
After the gummy has been marinating, arrange bowls for the dunking process.
Get a piece of gummy shark, roll it in the flour mixture
Then dunk into egg mixture
Then dunk in crust mixture, covering the gummy.
Take the piece of gummy back to the egg mixture,
Then redunk it in the crust mixture again so it is now double coated...
Once you have the desired amount, put them on a plate, and put them into the freezer for about an hour to set the crusty layer to the gummy.
After a hour, heat a pan, or deepfryer etc with oil.
Once the oil has heated up, drop a piece of popcorn gummy shark into the oil, if it bubbles away, its ready!
Throw a few more bits in and let them cook for about 1m 30secs - 2mins, then put them in a bowl lined with paper towel to soak up the excess oil.
Cook the rest in batches....
Then eat em!!!
They go well with a bit of sweet chilli sauce too!
And of course the batch I made... lasted about 3 and half minutes before everyone had eaten them!!
Give it a go... its bloody good tucker mate!

I couldnt think of anything witty or funny to say and didnt really want to post my PB fish from the yak cause all I manage to get are toadies so I thought I'd take the time to fill in the blank space and say pretty much absolutely nothing and annoy every-one who has taken the time to read this.

Re: Fishophils Popcorn Gummy Shark....
I cooked a lot of this up a few days back, it was by far the tastiest thing I've ever eaten fish wise I have a lot in the freezer right now that is going to be my dinner tonight, just waiting for the crumbs to set on it. If anyone has some flake, I HIGHLY recommend you try this at least once!

I've made something similar before too. I also sometimes make cubes like this in batter and have with sweet and sour sauce...
