Xplora Watercraft - Composite manufacture and repairs.

Post by Seasherpa »

Some of you already know about my latest project but now is probably as good a time as any to come clean for those that don't!
Sea Sherpa is my new kayak venture based in Seaford, trading as Xplora Watercraft.
The short version is that with the help of my lovely wife to do all the legal stuff, I've decided to turn kayaking into a business!

Here's what we offer:
Fishing Ski Manufacture We will be the only Australian company currently producing a fishing ski on our shores, lots of plastic kayaks and some fiberglass sea kayaks made here but all of the fishing skis are currently coming out of South Africa. Our model the X18, is 5.48m long with a beam of 60.5cm and can be rigged with a sail to cover more ground.

K1 flatwater sprint & marathon boats We have acquired the Rebel series of K1 race boats with a 'Pro', 46cm beam, 50cm beam and a Junior model. The 50cm beam model can also be modified for para-canoe and dragon boat usage. (more info on our website).

Distribution of Braca-sport Paddles Braca sport paddles are used the world over from Olympians to recreational padders and we are stocking a range from K1, canoe, dragonboat, SUP, sea kayak, racing ski and fishing kayaks. Whatever your craft, we can organise a quality carbon paddle to suit your needs; the reinforced surf models of the IV and Van Dusen wing blades as well as the Hurricane flat blade are perfect for use on fishing skis as well dubling up for those who like to paddle ocean racing skis or spec skis in their spare time.

Composite repairs glass, carbon, kevlar we can fix your dings, leaks and carry out installs.

Having previously been a sales partner of Australian Kayak Specialists, the master distributor for Stealth kayaks in Australia, we know the structure and composition of the Stealth range very well and can repair almsot anything you mange to do to them!

If you are looking at getting into a composite paddle kayak and want help to navigate the new or second-hand market to make a purchase, we can provide helpful advice to get you into the right boat for what you want to do. We can help you work through the pros and cons of various models and we can even come along with you when you make the big purchase; think of it as an RACV inspection for a yak! Get in touch to see what we can do for you! Once your purchase is made we can also help get your new beast rigged the way you want it.

Its an exciting time at the moment, I've got paper work coming out my ears, but its been a great experience so far. I have a lot of people on here to thank for all the help and advice over the years, (I too have benefited from Shane & Rhino's thousands of posts) so obviously I want to give back as much as I can. All vyak members will get a discount on any service I can provide you, and vyak member's businesses will be supported where possible. A big thank you to Cheaterparts for the trailer for our fleet boats and for fabricating plenty of parts for our fit-outs!

Tight lines all,
