Windy day Re-entrys.. whos interested?

Post by choppers »

Guys, Inspired by the swimming pool reenety day that is being organised again, and the feeling sometimes on WP That I'm undertrained for worst case scenario, I want to organise a rough water practice day.
Iv done flat water reenery with no gear aboard, but want to go out in some real sht (like today, 20knt wind sounds the go. Onshore is the go I reckon and id personally preferr wp, possibly coronet bay unless the other side suits anyone interested.
I'm thinking Il take out my crate and wear some trakky pants to simulate my normal fishing attire. I'm planning to switch to wetsuit for winter so might wear that and trakkies to push limits. I think three people minimum to make it safe, and previous reentry practice would be preferable. warm clothes etc. For afterwards. Il cook something to warm the bellies afterwards.
Cheers

Just picked up a new yak, so it might be a good chance to test out two things at once.

Re: rough conditions kayak handling and re-entry practice.
I have had a bit of a paddle and re-entry around the mordilloc / mentone area in some good wind, and the sandbar that runs along the beach provides a great lift to the chop and is close enough to the beach you can get out of trouble and back in easily.
It also has a good bit of fetch across the bay in W-SW winds.
As a location, it's a bit further for choppers but a bit closer for most of vyak members. Parking is more expensive, but you can park in the side streets for free after dropping the yak off in one of the carparks (the horse paddock car park is a good spot).
I'd possibly be keen to get cold.
