Re: Facebook
Nothing to do with Vyak. There are a couple of Vic kayaking groups that have members from here. Problem with FB groups is there are too many advocates of the 3m kayaks that over estimate their capabilities. It can be quite concerning at times.peatop wrote:No this one https://www.facebook.com/groups/418879764890845/

Re: Facebook
Yah that would be an issue, it's a pitty the government relaxed our trade laws to allow all these imports without thinking of the dangers, the retailers should be responsible for products they sell, in regards to disclosure of the capability of the their products, too much sh!t gets imported in this country nowadayslaneends wrote:Nothing to do with Vyak. Re: Facebook
Was there ever a ban on import of shitty kayaks, though? I haven't been a yakker for long enough to know.peatop wrote:Yah that would be an issue, it's a pitty the government relaxed our trade laws to allow all these imports without thinking of the dangers
Generally speaking retailers are responsible if they sell a manifestly unsafe product. The issue is less the overall safety of a given kayak than its safety when used in the wrong conditions; i.e. a toy kayak being used in PPB. The latter is the responsibility of the user, since no matter how many times you tell some people something they will often still do what they want.peatop wrote:the retailers should be responsible for products they sell, in regards to disclosure of the capability of the their products, too much sh!t gets imported in this country nowadays
That said I would agree that sellers who don't make it clear that a small kayak must not be used outside of flat water should be given a kick up the bum. It would be good if there were a legal requirement to include impossible-to-miss disclaimers in big red letters sticky-taped to every such kayak saying not to use them outside of where they're designed for.

Nope we are not affiliated with any of the facebook groups.
There are a few members from here on the other groups but they are not affiliated with us in any way other than sharing a few of the same members.
Cheers,
