Even 100m from shore in a 50 knot wind can produce half metre waves with no issues what so ever, you'd have to have rocks in your head to go out last night.
I'm saying they are idiots. The farmland is elevated from the beach in close wouldn't be that rough very close to the beach. That being said last night would have had some chop. Still they were aware of the wind and should know better. If they did bring in licensing, this wouldn't stop this sort of indicident. Who in there right minds would go out last night. A Licence would not have stopped them.

I was a Ricketts Monday after work and it was a bit choppy. 15knots Westerley (On shore). Was rough. there were 2 kayaks contemplating going out. They had no anchor, don't know about PFD's. Kayaks were not that flash. They were both drinking beer. I thought if they go out they have rocks in the head. They didn't. I didn't go either.

There were two out on Tuesday night at Ricketts in similar conditions. Neither with a PFD on.
I was in the stinker flicking plastics for a bit after my anchor "fell off." But that's another story.

Yeah I think they do, but today isn't up yet. The one dated today is actually yesterdays program.
