Assume it is not one of ours by the look of the kayak, but it isn't looking good.

A large-scale search is underway off Phillip Island for a 63-year-old man who went kayaking yesterday and did not return.
Emergency services were called around 8am this morning, and found the man’s kayak at Red Rock Point with no paddles about 9.45am.
Police, Coast Guard, SES and volunteer Marine Rescue personnel are involved in the search in Western Port Bay off Phillip Island.
Four search vessels and a helicopter have been deployed.
There are also SES personnel and police searching on shore.

Not looking good at all. I notice it's a SIK with no sign of rod holders etc, so assume he was just paddling. But it wasn't a day to be going anywhere past Red Rocks.
I was going to be taking a work mate out to fish around Jam Jerrup yesterday but I cancelled early as even that area was going to be blown out. I noticed a report that a tinnie was out around there but ended up capsizing with 4 guys being rescued by coast guard and treated for hypothermia. I can only hope and pray that this guy in the SIK is as lucky.

Think they mean Red Rocks Point on the north of the island near Ventnor not Red Point.shane wrote:Not looking good at all. I notice it's a SIK with no sign of rod holders etc, so assume he was just paddling. But it wasn't a day to be going anywhere past Red Rocks.

Given he's probably been in the water since at least the morning I'd say it isn't looking great

Notwithstanding the weather, at 63 years old it could've been just about anything that may have contributed to him being separated from his kayak.
I wonder what caused the delay in contacting the authorities?
