TRansporting Two Outbacks on Roof Racks

When I carry a yak on the roof I usually loop one of the crossover straps through the mirage drive slot or a scupper to help stop the yak sliding straight off the roof under heavy braking.

All great tip, I defo will secure Front and Back, I like the issue of going round the whole lot and through doors, but is that actually pulling the yaks down more on the racks and thus overloading racks?
Like the loop through the mirage cavity for added security.

Make an 'A' frame for under the kayaks, have the inside edges almost touching. Also gives space for rods/long items in between.

No exactly understanding the A frame.

Triangular structure on top of (and between) the racks, so that the yaks are on the racks near the edges of the car, and touching in the middle at the top.
Would need to be fabricated - I have not seen any for sale.

Not exactly what you would need (you would want it extending front/behind the racks), but here's what I mean:

Any strap downs are done to just tight, to stop things moving. Any tighter and you can start to deform or damage the hull. Strapping through doors is to stop possibility of bars lifting from car, though that shouldn't be likely with decent bars.

I'm planning on stacking a pair of Outbacks for a trip to Wonboyn soon.
We'll either take a Captiva or VW Tiguan with racks rated to 100kg.

Anyone else have experience to share on this?
