Probably better off buying a couple of dry bags as mentioned and attach some bungee cord and loops to the yak to keep them secure and a crate for the back for stuff you will need access to. If you find you still need more space then consider cutting them out. Most camping gear will be a pain to squeeze through a small hatch anyway but might come in handy for clothes and food, will just need to make sure to have in plastic bags as no matter how hard you try you enevitably get some water in there even if a small amount.

camping gear would overload a little yak like this. Dont think you will be doing any long treks either
