ocean kayak torque project get me some fish

Post by Franko »

Here is my yak. 4.2 Ocean kayak torque i have done some slight mods to suit my needs. Replaced most the straps and some of the bungees. On the fish pod i have added 2 railblaza starports so i can use the multiple accesories. A baitboard for the pilllies and some bungee so i can slide pliers, knives, leader etc under it to secure them . It has a great seat anchor trolley cup holder 4x paddle keepers side and rear. I have replaced the rear drop in holders with railblaza starports because i find the multi positions extremely handy and i can lock my rods in just in case i go over. I also find it easier to grab them rather then lean forward when drowning baits. I have a kayak pak for the rear havent decided on the crate set up yet. Under the pod i added a small bucket sealed in for bait or storage and the battery box fits 3 plano tackle trays and my brag mat .The hull is stable a lilttle heavy so im building a trailer so i dont have to throw it on the roof of my car. next on the list is a finder either a raymarine dragonfly or elite 4. It has a minn kota the drops into the rear well but im more keen to paddle for fitness and the regulations required in Victorian waters i still carry flares compass bailer. now that i figured out how to compress photos on my phone i will continue to share. Cheers yall

Dont lubricate the railblaza locking slides or they will fail..

No the hydrocarbons used in the spray weaken the plastic and the tab snaps off. It has a warning about using petroleum spray on the packaging, but direct email from the manufacturers has warned it is the hydrocarbons. It is all to tempting when you are spraying your sounder connections to give them a quick spray as they can get stiff. with sand and salt.

Actual advice emailed from Railblaza:

"Can you please advise if these were sprayed with any lubricants. We do say on the packaging not to spray with lubricants with A hydrocarbon base....

What we have found is a good blast with fresh water normally frees them up. That is all I use on mine. It is normally salt or sand that will cause them to bind so all you have to do is make sure this is clear."

Cooking oil may be fine, but personally given they are a weak spot I would avoid anything.
