Hey All,
I am planning ahead of fish finder. Looking on the BCF site, there are two models for the same price - Lowrance Elite-4 Chirp Combo vs Lowrance Elite-4 HDI Combo.
I can not work out the differences. They are the same price.
http://search.bcf.com.au/search?w=lowrance%20elite%204
In any case, I am probably learning towards the Elite-4 Chirp (without plotter).
Anything else I should be looking out for or aware of?
Thanks,
Dave

As far as I understand Chirp is just and update version of HDI (Hybrid Dual Imaging). So you're better of going for the chirp as it's newer technology. Check out whitworths, they Have the Elite 4x Chirp (No GPS) for $149 and the Elite 4 Chirp (GPS) with maps for $399.

Do these all come with transducers?

Yep, just bought mine from Whitworth Marine - paid on Monday and it arrived Wednesday.
Very efficient and professional bunch to deal with.
Cost me $171 all-up ($149 + $22 shipping from NSW).
You could always go into Whitworths in the city and pick one up over the counter.
Cheers,
Mike.

one thing that might influence your decision is that i recently returned a standard hdi unit (after only a few uses) as it started turning off by itself and eventually got to the point where it was difficult to turn on. the guys at bcf said they have had 1 in 4 returned with the same issue! my replacement chirp unit has got different issues and i'm waiting on lowrance tech support for answers so maybe stay clear of lowrance altogether!!
