There will be a few threads on adding positive bouyancy to your yak but they are a couple of years old from memory. Might be worth a search as the expanding foam was discussed.

Expanding foam can put pressure on tight spaces and distort/do damage. It also takes on water and turns yuckywokka1 wrote:There will be a few threads on adding positive bouyancy to your yak but they are a couple of years old from memory. Might be worth a search as the expanding foam was discussed.

thats why noodles are good you can feed them through4liters wrote:How would gap filler foam go for extra buoyancy in an emergency? Half of my yak isn't easily accessible to stuff things like PFDs down due to a very small hatch, scuppers and rod holders and the foam seems like it could be sprayed right down into the parts I can't get to.

With a username like 4litres, I'm amazed you're not going for the casks. Much lighter than noodles, so better for buoyancy when your hull isn't full of water.

The air comes out of them after a while, otherwise they'd be another option.

A few of the ah... 'locals' where I grew up reckon they make good pillows though.
Live long, fish hard and hopefully catch something.

They do, just make sure the tap is pointing down or you get an impression in your face.

Gap filler will work fine "IF" you can pump it into a bag you can seal otherwise as others have stated it will actually trap water in your yak as the water gets into the cells of the foam and it will also rot.4liters wrote:How would gap filler foam go for extra buoyancy in an emergency?
