JJ strength

Post by Toady king »

Hey guys, was planning on heading out to JJ tomorrow. But after a quick read I see people say it's got strong current. I fish, flinders, hastenings, somers/balnarring a lot. So would i be able to 'handle' it or would it just be too strong to start out and probably head to LL or G instead?
a quick fish can be between 1-8 hours

Plenty of shallower water off jj to fish close to shore or closer to French island. Main channels do flow pretty hard a 2.5kg anchor and chain is recommended . Palmers channel has less flow

Also just noted the difference between your high and low tomorrow is only around a meter, which is not maximum, which means slightly slower run. Good luck

LL/JJ has a relatively mild tidal flow compared to the other locations you've mentioned. ie the main channel off Hastings runs much much harder at times than what you get out from LL. Guys will talk about LL/JJ having strong tide but that's in comparison to North PPB.

Flood tides not too bad especially as flats are more productive, if you want to try the channels for snapper then around the high slack is easy,
