Starting to think about upgrading the tube tv and realized I don't know the first thing about current tv's. So to save myself driving around talking to salesmen I thought I'd post and ask for Yak fishers opinion and expertise.
What should be my starting level these days and what's good?

Re: TV's
Absolute bargin of a lifetime. Starting thursday ALDI has a 47" LCD 100hz with USB recording support for only $799. I bought one of their 42" LCD's last year for $999 and couldn't be happier. There may be better known brands, but the oned from ALDI (Bauhn) are very good. Don't buy their PVR's as they are complete rubbish though.

Also, as a side item they have wetsuits and other summer gear on sale also.
Wetsuits $30, Rashies $15, Diving knives $25, Tackle Box's $15, Braid $20,Rods and Reels from $59.

Re: TV's
I am a product trainer for one of the major brands so here are a few questions you would want to ask yourself to get started off
what size would you like (46-55 inch is the most popular size this year)
would you prefer plama or lcd
if lcd you have the option of getting an LED backlit LCD which is very thin and more power efficient
3d might be something you would want but keep in mind there really is not a lot of content yet unless you're a gamer
This is definitely the time of year to get one as all the major brands have promotional bonuses eg sony give a ps3 including gt5 for many of their tvs and panasonic are doing a home theatre.

Re: TV's
Best option.........Set a budget, then go and look at them all.
Not just the picture quality, but the remote, the programme guide, and, above all, the responce to changing channels. Not a biggie for most women and sales dudes, but a real biggie for the dedicated channel flicker like me.

I was thinking LED.
Considering a 3D tv as a way of sort of future proofing my purchase.
however the idea of 3D gaming does have allure.
