Re: New Surfing A.I. Vids
Man ow Man Matt, you really know how to push the limit. How you didn't pitch pole or then side roll in that first video. I have had plenty of water over the bow to that limit, but in deeper water or Sorrento where the sand bottom comes up quick, I was thinking the bow was going to dig the bottom, and then you went side on. Images of my McCrae capsize came flooding back.
I really wonder if that bow tip really does help, when I did get that much water over the bow, I did think I was nose diving deeper, though it is hard to tell. All I do know, is the sphincter tightened every time I did it, hats off mate.
Love that second video (the Prom?), really nice job and just like a real music video, loved it.
How long is your mast camera beam, what did you use and how have you mounted it? Did you push a hole through the sail webbing or mount a swivel bridging over the webbing?
Cudos mate
Eddie

Low Tech is the Best Tech
..but Mingles seat looks 10 X stronger
Eddie.....Ive got some more stuff Ive dreamed up to test out on the A.I. to make it much more seaworthy. I'd enjoyed your observations on the nose cone. The nose cone is not attached permanently on the A.I. I'm still waiting for a situation where it gets ripped off....but has never happened. What the nose cone does is to work to keep the bow on the surface. Through waves and chop it wont sink down thru oncoming waves which tends to produce splash and spray .....and a wet ride for the rider.
The boat got very vertical on the wave....and even though is beautifully nose dived.....the lip of the nose cone fought too the surface.
If you look at any vid of an A.I. in rough water....the nose is cutting thru swell which sinks the boat...then the water hits the amas black aluminium supports and then sprays water in all directions. Keep the nose higher...the black bars dont reach the water....little splash

That seat fit is good Mat and a big improvement to sitting in water, what is different from Mingles?
Ebay seat?
Ok Mingle, care to share?

Eddie ...been looking for mingles report on the seat but havent found it yet....not sure where exactly where id seen it but they are called skipper or tinnie seats. You can buy one for around 120 to 160 bucks. Josh and his mates up North were on to this idea 2 yrs ago i think.....not my idea.... Anyway......your bum is warmer and drier with this seat. I was disappointed with both the hobie nose and the hobie seat.....2 things that could be easily fixed.
Bozzie.......think some more!!!!
cheers
