Whos a Diver ??
I am not far off doing my diving course, as long as the doc says I can, and was looking at joining a forum like this one to help when I get out there with buddies, where to go etc. There are a few out there in cyber land but was woundering which ones the divers on this forum recommend. Any info would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers Merv.

Re: Whos a Diver ??
I was diver and started spearfishing at age 12.
On my 14th birthday I completed my SCUBA qualification with an ocean dive and worked all my school holidays hydrostatic testing cylinders and making up twin tank units.
I dived for a lot of years and both overseas as well as Oz.
Later years it was U/W photography but I was a pretty good "spearo" in my time.
It was a brilliant hobby and I have many wonderful memories of great dives!
I recommend it to anyone.

I haven't dived for a few years but used to frequent the southern part of PPB almost every week end. Pick a local shop which also has the gear and arranges both the course and charter dives. Go into the shop rather than searching on line. Some operators have good web sites with great pictures but don't have anything in their shop. Melbourne Diving Services in Heidelberg used to be good. I am PADI qualified (Professional Association of Diving Instructors). but SSI (SCUBA Schools International) is another option. They both have similar courses and are both well recognised internationally. It is a great sport and I am keen to get back into it and perhaps do some dives off my kayak.

If you find a SCUBA diving forum let us know, I don't know of a local one. As far as I know dive groups are usually are a group of buddies who learnt together or have met through clubs or dive shops or through friends.
