Scallop Dive weekend of 21 & 22 Dec.

Post by maverick »

I have dropped the tank in to be tested and it should be back by the 12th. Planning on a dive trip to Rye/Tyrone on either day Sat 14th or Sun 15th at this stage. I haven't checked the tides for slack water yet, but hope to dive early to mid morning, head back to shore get changed and then fish for a few hours.

Happy if someone one wants to come along and buddy dive, but you have to be proficient at getting your gear on and off in the water. (I am impatient).

Plan A will be to paddle out to the channel, jump in, gear up dive down and tow the yak behind me.

Wouldn't mind a feed of scallops before Christmas and before the boat traffic gets berserk down there.

Mav.

Slack water at the heads is a bit before 11:00 on Sat & a bit before 12:00 on Sunday 15th.
I can't commit to either day yet but will watch the post during the week.

Going to put this off for a week due to all the rain and the poor viz I expect would be present this weekend.

Thanks Mav,
I will watch out for revised day & time.
Hope to be able to make either 21st or 22nd Dec & hopefully the viz will improve by then.

Sunday lunchtime is looking ok. High tide 12.45 pm, slack water around 1.30 p.m. Light offshore south westerlies.

Probably head down early and fish first.

Anyone up for it?

Mav,
I'd already posted somewhere that I'm going to fish out in the channel near Hovell pile early then Rosebud Reef. You're welcome to join me then head back out for the scallop session later.

Hi Mav,
I have got parent taxi duty Sunday, Have to take my son to work at 11:00 and pick him up at 3:00.
Doesn't leave enough time to get to Rye & back & include a dive.
Enjoy the Fish & Dive.
I hope you get a seafood catch for Christmas.
All the best for Christmas to you & your dad.
I will try to plan another Scallop dive in the new year.
Rob.
