Re: Paddle v Pedal kayak.
after near on 4 years with the Kingfisher I have just upgraded to the prowler - nothing in the pedal range of yaks grabs me
if Hobie came out with a much longer vertion of the out back at least 2 foot longer that would be worth looking at
with a bow shape more like the revo that cut through waves instead of slaping and with a longer rear well and a prowler style ice box

Going to swap to a paddle yak Pete or is this R&D for Scott?

Nah Ghurkin, just a question that comes up a lot from newbies so I thought it would be a good opportunity for newbies to see what others have done and perhaps learn from the experience.

I thought the questions were unbiased and also didn't differentiate between the different brands of pedal yaks on the market.
Been down the paddle yak path originally.

You could add an option that due to injury you had no choice but to opt for paddle, ditto peddle. Some folks don't have the option to choose

Re: Paddle v Pedal kayak.
Maybe a little OT, but I noted your comments re nothing in the Hobie pedal range grabbing you mate. That prompted me to have a look at their non-PAs online just now and the Adventure doesn't look half bad. Also thought the Revo13 looked ok, but never having peddled either of them I wouldn't really know of course. The prices still seem a bit excessive too and I really liked the look of your OK. I could see one of them being my next yak if I don't eventually go for a PA.
Great topic to raise a poll on too.

Re: Paddle v Pedal kayak.
Starting with two paddle yaks and moving to a peddle yak allowed me to learn paddling technique in a yak designed to be paddled. Best of both worlds!
