Tying down a kayak on a camper trailer?

Hi guys,

Haven't been on here for a while and I haven't been on the kayak for nearly as long!

I've just bought a new camper trailer and looking to head off for a holiday soon.

It hasn't got any racks to mount the kayak on; so I'm thinking of throwing it directly on top the tent/PVC cover which sits on top. I'm worried that to tie it down hard enough it'll damage the PVC cover, so I'm thinking of using a couple bits of foam under the yak.

Just wondering if anyone uses this kind of set up, or something similiar, or has any other advice?

Cheers

Lemoose

Couple of foam padded timber battens to spread weight

Yep, I was in the same boat :D sorry couldn't help myself :)
I've tried tying my yak down on the soft floor camper, but I found it was difficult to get enough tension on the straps to stop it moving around. We had to stop and check it every 100klm's or so. Went out and got a set of Rhino roof racks, made up a side loader with a couple of tent poles and I carry it up there now and it never moves :)
