glide technology

Post by sog »

Has anyone upgraded their mirage drive v2 to the new glide tech yet?
In other places the parts are available and people are upgrading, but It's very quiet on the subject here.

I was going to upgrade before the SWR trip but the lack of available parts meant it didn't happen. Since then I've done the grease injection mod and have been very happy with the results. I'll probably wait until something wears a bit more or breaks before making the upgrade. But still very interested to hear others experience if they do it.

Received an email from Josh at SLH today regarding the upgrade.
They're still waiting for all the components to arrive.
Thanks for the reply Josh ... when the parts come in I'm getting it done!

I'm surprised it's taken 10 hours for that response.  Actually now I'm able to grease it up every trip I'm finding things are much smoother with less stress on the drive. Hopefully that means less bits get broken.

Sorry, I searched using "grease injection" unsuccessfully.

That is a great mod!

Just found out that all of the required parts to upgrade existing drives to Glide tech will arrive on our next delivery in a few days. We'll put some kits together and make them available ASAP.

FYI, Hobie claim that GT makes the drive around 10% more efficient. My own experience is right in line with this, and I'm hearing the same feedback from others. Definitely noticeable from the get go
