For me winter is squid off werribee sth
Maybe a couple of trips to Lang Lang for gummies
And a few trips to my favorite trout lakes
Then in August I'll start chasing early season snapper off the inner reefs

Gellibrand marker is next to the small artificial reef formed around the foundations of the old light pile, out the end of gellibrand shoal.Sits in about 9m of water and is roughly 15 square rising to about 4m. There is usually something to be had around there. As it rises abruptly from otherwise flat bottom you can anchor right next to it without snagging. But you will need a sounder to find it. You dont want to drop anchor on top of it. It is about 20m from the marker in a direct line to footy ground. Just after turn of high tide has always been best for me.

Launch from small beach on esplanade opposite end of Cole st (use search to find previous details on this). you can fish anywhere out the front of this towards gellibrand, Again need sounder to find edge of reef.

Just be wary up that end of the bay on a southerly as it can get lumpy.

Often shallower than that. Mid/late winter and early spring is when the big breeders are around and very active. But to get them you need to be in WP or southern PPB, the closer to the ocean entrances the better.
