Pacific sails will generally work with a following wind (to a degree). So they will help one way. Not a good solution.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

When you are looking at a 2 hour plus paddle/pedal each way, a lot can change in the weather in that time..

No one should rely only on sails but if you plan the day and the wind can help you to or from the destination and reserve energy its a good thing ? I wouldnt attempt any major distance paddling with out knowing my limits either just thought having a second form of drive would be an option to consider. This is why i brought a pacific sail up to 45 degree wind use. I am very keen for offshore fishing and want to test my limits without sacrificing safety. I could always drop the minnkota in the OK ....,

Personally I rekon your mad, which may help.
Boat ramp would be the best spot to launch.
In my teen years I was in the cape surf lifesaving club, and heard many stories of a large shark breeding area a few Ks off shore.
Plus that's right in a weather corridor, from Phillip island, weather tracks down to the prom quite regularly.
Of course it would be possible on the right day with alot of conditioning and gear, but id love to see u have a boat along side incase the sh!t hits the fan.
Good luck with your endeavour

I'd agree with that assessment... we will be extremely careful and we are putting a lot of planning into it.choppers wrote:Personally I rekon your mad, which may help.

Holy Thread Resurrection Batman - about time we planned for this trip, with an armada of AI's. What do you think?

Haha I've been thinking about this after the weekend just gone. I'm more sure than ever now that it is do-able, easily so in an AI and possible in glass too.maverick wrote:Holy Thread Resurrection Batman - about time we planned for this trip, with an armada of AI's. What do you think?

Just posted up on the Vic Hobie AI FB page as well, plenty of interest for the trip.
Given the number of SBT's being found around the state (Heads, Prom etc) you would think they would be out here as well. Should be some Kings, but well worth a look regardless.
Only needs a day trip as well.
