Glide Explore Version 1

Post by Azman »

Hey guys here's a few pics of my Glide Explore yak and its first few mods.
Fish finder up behind my right foot and still in good view.
Rod holder montes in existing holes in the middle. A little awkward but easy enough to move.
First go at a led light pole and storage in the back section. Need to find a stronger box that fits
The area but I'm happy with my first attempt. Will add a night pic later tonight

That battery looks quite large mate what size is it?
Extra weight in the back can affect kayaks performance and sits them lower in the water making it less stable
"Ye old town" Yak captures - gummy (116) salmon (32) flatty (35) yakka (28) silver trev (25) couta (38) plus all the garbage fish

Prowler victims - squid (30cm) Gar (36) Snapper (80 :yahoo: ) kgw (39)

It's only a small 4AH. Just in a big container so I have room to store a few smaller items as well.
I plan on connecting the wiring into my bigger batter later on

Love the lights, best arrangement

That a berekly QS rod holder? Reel normally goes in front of holder, weight of reel helps hold the closing bar down. They can be mounted fairly far forward as you only need to be able to reach end of butt. You can always make an extension for it so it doesn't clash with sounder. Instructions posted here

Cant go past a genuine milk crate. Sturdy as easy to strap/ bolt things to and drains quick if it gets water in. Think righting an inverted yak with in effect a water scooper on the back. A lid for a milk crate can be made by cutting the bottom of a second and hing with hose clips/zips/;bingee etc

Thanks for the links laneends.
I would love a milk crate but finding one to fit the space in the explore is a bit hard.
Somethi im certainly on the look out for anything to make things easier and better is always good.

Took the lights out for a test run in the back yard. Very happy.

Next thing to tackle is a decent trolley.
