It'll be up to 20kts and 5.5m swell by Friday so don't try late in the week. Wednesday should be the pick with low winds and swell.4liters wrote:Is anyone planning on heading down later in the week?

Re: Portland Offshore - First Timer Guide
I think I will head down to wallys about 6.30am and see what it is like if it looks a bit dodgy I'll head back to Nunns or the dinghy ramp. Bloody hard work getting the PA over the soft sand at Nunns today.

Re: Portland Offshore - First Timer Guide
The dinghy ramp is a beach ramp inside the harbour between the old boat ramp and the tourist information centre. It means a bit more of a paddle/peddle but it is a short hard sand crossing for dragging the PA battle cruiser across when it is full of fishwokka1 wrote:Nunns is the beach adjacent to Lee wall ? Shane005's friend - who also did extremely well on kingys (a dozen or so up to 120cms over two days) used this launch for fishing the breakwall. There is also the odd school of kingys inside the harbour itself - though these schools are usually very shutdown and are just in there due to curiousity it seems.spider25160 wrote:The dinghy ramp is a beach ramp inside the harbour between the old boat ramp and the tourist information centre. Cool, I've actually used that launch before into the Harbor. Just didn't know it's name. I actually drove to the waterline, very hard sand.

Looks like I'll head down on Wed, any chance someone could put some rough locations for catching squid and other things on these charts?

There's decent squid ground just off Whaler Pt. They get hammered pretty hard but I managed to get a few there this morning and put them to good use.
