eBay cheapies...

I love my cheap ebay lures. Every month something new seems to pop up.

I can spend hours browsing through the thousands of different patterns and styles.

Just picked up a light casting/jigging lure (25g) for a mere $2.28 (and that's shipped, from Hong Kong).

Nice packaging (a blatant copy of a well-known manufacturers!), very nice quality chromed lure with decent hook.

The text 'blurb' on the side of the box is amusing in a slightly incomprehensible way.

Here are a few others I've bought, or am looking at getting - all for between $1 and $4...

Interesting popper-pattern consisting of a couple of small baitfish...

Similar, but a shallow-diving minnow patter...

15-35g chromed metal wobblers with a vert interesting profile (not visible in this pic)...

18cm deep-divers - very nicely made...

15-35g chromed metal slugs...

Rapala XR8 clones - very nice action, well put together, $1 a pop :-)

I've tried a lot of different cheapies via eBay. With the exception of one lure, they all fished well and were well constructed. The exception was Yapada.

Note how thin the chrome is in the photo above.

Both lures failed during the same session. I was onto a school of mostly 50-60cm Salmon off rocks (very hot session). The drag was tight to bring fish up a steep slope against a very strong backwash.

I have lost lures to weak rings in the same location but have never had any other lure fail in this way on similar sized fish.

Your Yapadas should perform OK on Tailor and Salmon <50cm or on a light line setup (i.e. lighter than gear used to lift 60cm Salmon up rocks). However, keep a close eye on the back end for signs of trouble.

FWIW I still have one Yapada in my collection. thinking about it, I've lost 10 lures to Tailor snip-offs in the past week (a great reason to use cheapies) and Salmon are about but have been ignoring the lure. So, now would be a good time to use it up.

Give us some links Mingle, Especially the Xrap copies and deep divers. I'm a sucker for a HB, more so than the fish I target seemingly.
