Berkley Gulp Rainbow Minnow 4"

Post by madfishman »

These are my go to plastic.
4inch rainbow minnow.jpg
Pre-Dawn is the key in most places even in the mountains, or even dirty/deep water.
In willy i use a 1/8 jig head on 6-10lb pending time of year. been hit and had hook ups more times than i can count, even when the placcy hits the water in a no moon pitch dark night, awsome fun.

Pinkies/snapper
bream
Squid
pike, heaps of pike sheesh
rainbow and brown trout-Howqua river/Thompson/eildon
Cheers ,
Neilo

That's one colour I have not tried. I'll have to give it a shot.

Excellent intro to the lure/SP Neil. I think I have had a pack and have not tried them in the last year. I will give them a crack. As Twavvy said, they are all pretty good, I also like the Powerbait minnows which are similar however they don't go off. I am hopeless with SP's and tend to leave them lying around so I do like stuff that doesn't go off, but Gulp do have some addictive existing and new colour ranges. I will give the ones Neil likes a try SafetyBeach, they could be good on the Salmon.

These lures are the bomb, i've caught trout, sambo's, flathead even a carp that went 15lb. They are great on the Martha cove sambo's maccayak ;)

Does this mean I’ll have to take up fishing again to try them out? ;)

Do you reckon best results on the troll or cast?

And if casting, do you still use very slow bream style retrieves, or faster retrieves with added action?

I have some of these but am not sure how to 'work' them properly. Seems when they are used slow they have little action

the tackle shop guy at Marlo recommended them as his first choice in sp's.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.
