Mine is a hiviz work top the type with the refective band on it
I cut two trianagles with the reflective band running Horizontally
I didn't like the fact that when there was no breeze it would go all floppy
So I cut a piece of coreflue to size and inserted it in the flag
Coreflue is that stuff they make temporary signage for tradies and real estates....not that I'm suggesting...
I have an appropriate sized PVC pipe cabled to the crate which it slides into.
All held in place with 19mm-12mm reducers thet fitted the fibreglass rod. The rod I got from a farm fencing supply
You can see it for miles a fellow Kayaker thought I was a Buoy (last time I looked I was !)
He couldn't see my yellow kayak but could see my flag.
I have noticed that hi viz paddles really stick out on the water too.
Be seen , be safe.
Just waiting for Mr Hobby to bring out rear vision mirrors for the Outback ,so I can see them coming

People laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at them because they're all the same.

Comes from Having so much stuff in your shed from previous jobs, clients and petty crime ...
I have given up scrounging on hard rubbish days (unless it's really good stuff that will hang around for ages, take up room in the shed and I'll never use.
SWMBO get very excited for week leading up to Hard rubbish day. That's when I man a 24hr vigil out side the cave making sure
nothing "Useful" ends up on the nature strip....
"Surely you could throw out more ??? she crys
Next year I'll have to resort to taking other peoples rubbish and putting it out on my pile
My contribution just isn't cutting it ! Hard rubbish envy

Re: orange safety flag
It may look stupid but personally I think it covers a couple of problems. 1. stops the neck and face getting sunburn 2. If you don't have a flag this should solve that issue.ajt223 wrote:Looks bloody stupid but thats something I've been accused of plenty of tiimes before. I blame my parents. Regardless I like it. Good find GoneFishn. Thank you.GoneFishn wrote:I'm in need for a new hat and what I have found may just be what we need.
When on the yak I have a Hi Vis flag well above head height and I also wear a Hi Vis work top, but have often thought that a Hi Vis hat would be the ducks nuts.
So surfing the net I came across this.
Frillneck

It also can be configured a few different ways.

Re: orange safety flag
There is no excuse for not having a flag. I spotted these today at Bunnings Mornington for $2.50 (were near the star pickets - stacked in the middle right at the end of the aisle).
I didn't need one (have a Hobie/Yakattack flag and light combo) but for the price, it was worth getting one just to show you guys. They are 300x300mm PVC on a 600mm wooden dowel (15mm diam). Add a 1m length of PVC pipe (a couple of bucks at best) from Bunnings, secure it to your esky or in a scupper and you're done. An easy and durable solution for less than a fiver.
