I can see your point, and I would be a little put off with that deal. You got your "faulty" kayak at a discount, retailer is saying if you want to upgrade to AI then you loose previous discount, not right in my books. It should just be the difference between the 2 showroom price you pay without taking into account for previous discount.

Something doesnt add up here. How did you get the big discount? was it an ex demo boat. While i agree that its a bit dodgy offering a deal then reneging, i feel that there is a little more to the story.
If you get a NEW island,(which you should do cos they're way cool) then that leaves the dealer/hobie with a new hull with second hand fittings. Something they cant sell as new. So if they did sell you an island, the dealer would take a hit and be left out of pocket. Maybe that only occurred to them later and thats why they want to bump the price. Or are they offering the replacement hull with the island upgrade?
Anyway, good luck with it and keep us posted.

HeHe, Same thing happened to the last guy that mentioned "Hobie" and "Discount" in the same sentence. They made him dissappear too :o :o
