Bloody Chorizo and Squid...ive seen that some where..

Caught anything lately? Post up how you cooked it here and if it was a success. Doesn't only have to be fish....

Bloody Chorizo and Squid...ive seen that some where..

Post by madfishman »

Couldnt get it outta my head from seeing it in a report posted along the way.

Went for a fish on Monday at willy and got a great feed of squid between 4 of us, biggest was close to 1KG...lotta squid..
Happen to go past Leo's in Heidelberg and dropped in grabbed some stuff, of which chorizo was on the menu..

I have found where this originated from ... http://www.vyak.net/forum/viewtopic.php ... rizo#p7773 .. and various other places.. the seed now planted i wipped up a small dish.

Garlic
spring onion
oil..duh
chorizo slized...chunky style.only sharp knives i got are fillet knives.
score the squidly sheet, or just slice some bits off and chop into various shapes. soak in peper, garlic and lemon
packet of vermacili noodles..in cold water for 15 mins..
salt /pepper

Heat oil, add some garlic, get it frying, toss some spring onion , then throw in the chorizo.do not leave the pan and grab a can and check the telly just yet and make sure your holding the pan, cos otherwise you will have to throw it out as it gets burnt real quick. I dont like black bits through my food, so go back and repeat step 1.
Once you get back to this part it only takes 3 mins...throw in the squid sear for 2 mins. Squirt in some lemon juise facing away from the pan...trust me..throw in the noodles, add soy and rest of spring onion. Now go to the fridge and grab a can, once eaten lay on couch...and crash..

Was a nice dish to add to the now ever increasing way of eating calamari.
Any suggestions would be great.

Enjoy.
Cheers ,
Neilo

I admit to be complicit.
Will be making this soon.
How about a vyak Iron chef cook-off? "And chairman Konga reveals the themed ingredient, Chorizo and squid. Again."

unfortunately for all the would be irons chefs, chorizio goes well with anything.
Well past the edge, almost at the point of no return.

Hah!

It's great when you find ingredients that compliment each other, maybe I should start another thread about that.
