PA 12 - Still too heavy?

Was eagerly waiting for the arrival of "PA Lite" since hearing rumours of its design. Turns out, the rumours are true BUT the "PA Lite" or PA 12 ain't as lite as I was hoping at 44kg empty compared to 49.9kg on the current model PA. I suppose any yak that is wide enough you can stow 4 rods in horizontally and stand on while fishing is never going to be light.

I thought the current PA is 39.9kg empty (hull weight at least), unless you're referring to it with the seat and rudder system in?

Outback, 3.68m, fitted hull weight 34.02kg, carrying capacity 181kg - tricky to stand up in (I don't know)?
PA12, 3.66m, fitted hull weight 44.4kg, carrying capacity 227kg - designed to stand up in.
I'm thinking my Outfitter is 3.86m, fitted hull weight 39.01kg, carrying capacity 198kg - very stable but not really anywhere to stand up in.
Another 5kg to manage on and off the car is no biggie.

The new PA12 has some bloody good features.

I really want to see the 12 and 14 side by side.
From what I can gather the front hatch is smaller and so is the helipad.
If I had enough money I would get the 14 and then find a carbon fibre guy and see if he can replace some bits, like the front hatch lid, large side sections etc.
Would be stupid lite and look mega bling.

5 kgs is 5 kgs.

People manage with the bigger PA...the shorter, lighter PA will be marginally easier surely.

It is definitely something you need to take into account.

Didn't Scott Lovig say the 14's weight was bare and the 12's weight was fitted out.

I've been in one.

The seat rocks. The comfort adjustment is much better and you can peddle sitting from down low or up high.

The stability is slightly less but there isn't much in it. We're still talking Pro Angler here.

Its turning circle is awesome.

Its noticably lighter than the PA 14. Don't quote me, but from memory its a fitted weight quoted in the brochure as opposed to a bare hull weight.

Price $3,350.00

I suspect that weight is less of a consideration for most people purchasing the PA. I reckon that the PA 14 will come out with the same features. I love the seat, the new centre hatch, and the lowrance ready feature with the transducer section in the hull. These features improvements alone are worth purchasing a new PA. The shorter length and slightly less weight wouldn't really figure in my decision to purchase one.

I am a hobie fan, i think they do cool stuff (i also think they copied the jackson seat a little but then made it way better)
