Re: Where do you put your 12v battery?

Peatop Re the conditions and longativity. Yes there's not much point extolling a set up without some proofing of it, so I appreciate your comments and detailing your approach. I was thinking last night that it shouldn't be too hard to put a rubber 'skirt' on the plug for some extra protection. A bit...

Re: Where do you put your 12v battery?

When i setup my SLA battery i added a marine grade cigarette lighter socket to the rear of my yak, this i didn't think would last but has extremely well to date, the reason fir the socket was twofold, for having a removable power supply for my light and also it gave me a charging point, i bought 2 ...

Re: Where do you put your 12v battery?

I find that with the weight of the two batteries behind the wheel cart, it helps with making the yak a bit lighter at the bow for dragging it up the beach. And hopefully there is enough weight in the bow already from all those fish you caught  I'm OK with the beach haul though I appreciate you...

Re: Where do you put your 12v battery?

Thanks for your replies, rationals and thoughts on the matter. Having never had a battery on board the yak I've appreciated them :) For my setup, the battery will have to come out to be charged after use, unless camping where there will be a solar panel on board. I generally don't utilise the front ...

Where do you put your 12v battery?

Hi, I'm Just wondering where to install a 12v battery and why to put it there. At present I'm in the process of putting one in a Hobie Revoloution 13 and the 2 most common places are in a battery holder either attached to the mast step on the bow or in the stern hatch. There's not much weight in the...

Re: Kayak storage under the roof

Any chance of posting some photo's of how you have done it, how you have routed the ropes through the pulleys etc? Sorry, I have to get myself sorted in that area! I'll take a photo of the pulley system anyway and when the IT side is together I'll put it up with the excellent sliding track system t...

Re: Kayak storage under the roof

Very impressive! I've googled it and there is a south Aus company 'Lifespace' that will deliver to metro Melbourne for $250. It's a little more, well a lot more than I'd planned but looks an excellent system. It's attached to a ceiling in all the photos but in my case it would need to be attached to...

Re: Kayak storage under the roof

Thanks Brett, what I was trying to do was exactly what you've done except with four pullies. I had it set up the same way but it was useless, the double pullies pulled around/twisted, and didn't operate down the tied off end. I changed the rope to as thick as I could thread through and it improved t...
