Re: 2023-01-Jan Westernport Solo

Having owned/part owned different boats for over thirty years before getting a yak and fishing various parts of westernport and port phillip bay, has provided me with experiences that I take for granted. Even with a boat, I have experienced nerve-racking moments between Pelican Island and Settlement...

Re: Favourite Fishing Videos

"A River Somewhere" with Rob Sitch and Tom Gleisner is one of my all time favourite fishing shows. They only made two series, it was both entertaining and informative.

Re: transporting kayak in extreme heat 40+

Not sure how important the trip is for you and whether you have travel insurance to cover costs you might have paid, but looking at the fire map, there will definitely be some risks associated with undertaking the journey your planning. Just for your information.... We had accommodation booked at Me...

Re: transporting kayak in extreme heat 40+

Yes, heat affects kayak shape etc. This is unavoidable due to the property of the material used (plastic). I've transported mine a couple of times in high temperatures (39-41C) on trips to Cobram and surrounds. My tip is - - Strap down the kayak just before you drive off, not the night before as you...

Re: Greetings from the West...

Hey Manny, glad to see another filo kayaker on here. A couple of my pinoy friends have kayaks, but we're based in the southeast, and usually fish around SE PPB or WPB. Occasionally, I'll head over to the west when winds are favourable. And sometimes will also do some fresh. Hope you catch heaps of f...

Re: Ricketts to Cerberus/Black Rock

If you've got a boat trailer, you can park for free in the boat trailer parking and launch your boat/yak for free. But if you've got a roof topper yak, like me, you have to pay the ridiculous $6/hr or $18 all day to park in the car park.

Re: New to Melbourne & Kayak Fishing!

Local knowledge plays an important part on choosing where to fish from a kayak. With intermediate kayaking skills, you should be comfortable about how your kayak will handle and how far you can paddle. The Tooradin/Warneet channels do have reasonable tidle flows in the channel, not sure if you would...

Re: Native Watercraft Titan Propel 10.5

Excellent set up. One day, would dearly love to see how you put your electric motor set up together. I've read a lot of stuff about the PWMs etc. but it seems not a lot of pwm are available locally. I currently have the watersnake T24-ASP with the kayak bracket. I've used it only a couple of times a...

Re: New to kayaks what winter clothing do you recommend

A combination of Ian and Cheater is what I go with (except I use a breathable set of waders that I got for free - instead of neoprene, hence i have thermal poly-propelene pants and tops). I wear a light weight hi vis spray jacket over a hoodie. I wear my columbia convertible pants over my thermals, ...
