I have one of these Chinese prowler yaks and you can’t go wrong as an introduction into the sport, like cheater mentioned you are better off with low profile seat as they are quite tippy with the stadium style seat.

1 x 6/0 or 7/0 hooked just under scale (shell) on top side of tail is how I present it. Bending them in half makes it nice and easy to get the hook in.

I use the Williamstown/Newport anglers club slip, the members are a good bunch and don’t mind kayaks launching there and there are good fishing grounds only a few hundred meters away (footy oval reef) which is good if the weather takes a turn for the worst.

I would have to agree with nath with a southerly at this strength will be pretty uncomfortable for you getting use to your equipment will have quite a bit of chop on the water. Sunday’s forecast is much more favourable.
