Re: Revo 16 Sounder - Where to put head unit?

One tip with those early boats, never ever use that bottom small drain plug under the rudder otherwise you risk forgetting to screw it back in and you wont notice being under the rudder, until your boat starts filing with water when you are out there..I did that, and have heard of others doing it to...

Re: Revo 16 Sounder - Where to put head unit?

Thanks for your input Kieth and Shane. I went through whole range of emotions yesterday when I realised I had this leak from the rear thru hull plug as I've been taking on a fair bit of water both times I've taken this kayak out around a lake in windy conditions. I even got to the point where I tho...

Re: Revo 16 Sounder - Where to put head unit?

I can just reach it without shimmying, I tend not to mess with screen once I'm on the water so not an issue. The main thing is it is out of the way. You could put a longer extension if you like. Its swings out of way if need be. Remounting with pocket mounted sounder like yours can be an issue

Re: Revo 16 Sounder - Where to put head unit?

Hi Kieth, My sounder is set up with the tranny thru-hull fitting next to the Lowrance Ready scupper: That could be a problem. I initially had a 2015 model with the fitting there. They were installed there before hobie invented the three way plug. The issue is that plug is an above waterline deck fi...

Re: Revo 16 Sounder - Where to put head unit?

If its a 2015 model where is the thru the hull wiring plug located in the tankwell? On the bottom or on the bulkhead behind the seat?

Re: 6X4 TRAILER CONVERSION TO SUIT PA (finished pics )

When extending drawbars and adding forward supports, care needs to be taken with not putting excess downforce on tow ball if you load forward without rear overhanging. Probs not an issue with a kayak but if you load it up with sleepers for example its easy to do if load isnt actually symmetrical abo...

Re: Third wheel

Just be wary of any jarring on the the mounting points. Dont know what current hobies are like but the earlier ones used to suffered from sheared cam columns after drive impacts

Re: New Stealth Fusion 480

As far as speed is concerned it comes down to how far you are looking to travel. ie top speed is not so important rather the effort required to maintain a fast cruise over longer distances. I can paddle an adventure close to the speed of a glass yak, but the effort to do so it is draining due to the...
