Re: ** TRAILER BUILD ** 2 kayak trailer in the making.

Hey goz,

It's a dedicated kayak trailer, I already have a custom cage trailer I built for general use a few years ago.

The width isn't a major issue as the kayaks will be mounted on a 45 degree angle if you get what I mean. Sort of like a J rack arrangement.

** TRAILER BUILD ** 2 kayak trailer UPDATED FINISHED PIC!

G'day all, As some of you know I am building a trailer to transport our 2 kayaks. After a lot of thought it was the best option for us to go with. It started with me buying a 6x4 trailer yesterday, only to get it in the shed and realise it was too rusty and wasn't worth repairing. I have decided to ...

Re: Trailer ideas?

Update:

So the trailer I picked up today was pretty much cactus!

Too rusty to bother repairing, so we are using the axle, hitch, guards etc off the rusty trailer and basically starting from scratch.

Will keep you updated along the way.

Cheers

Jamie.

Re: Trailer ideas?

If its a box trailer and you intend to use it for kayak transport and say rubbish removal you can't register it as a boat trailer, it has to be registered as a light trailer. I was given an old box trailer and have just about finished setting it up. Just remember you can't technically have any rear...

Re: Trailer ideas?

Hey there, Yeah it will be registered mate, regardless of it carrying kayaks it will be too long to be exempt from registration anyway. Yeah I only wanted them just above waist height as that's the whole reason for building a trailer, the 4wd roof is just too hard  I thought about just flat lo...

Trailer ideas?

Hi all, I am picking up a 6x4 trailer tomorrow ready to start building the yak trailer. I need to carry 2 x 12ft kayaks. I was thinking of making some racks that sit 2ft above the trailer so I can store camping gear etc underneath them. I will be extending the draw bar by 4ft aswell. Any ideas? Any ...

Re: Lookin for kayak for fishing

Hey "JustFish", looks like you might have been blessed. The kingfishers are a highly regarded paddle yak, I did a lot of research recently before buying our new yaks and the kingfisher was way up there, great value for money. At $800 that is a great buy! Jump on it mate. That's my 2cents a...
