Re: Should I give Altona a go...
I'm happy to give Torquay a go mate as long as I've got you to tow me back to shore if shi* hits the fan. Seriously, I'm game Pete... just let me know when. How ironic, Shane did EXACTLY the same thing for Pete if i remember correctly when he first went out there? If a newbie is not certain a...

Re: Should I give Altona a go...
Personally I would say no.
Straight Southerly, you will want to keep below 8knots and any Westy component, I would say below 12knots.
Dont forget, the "forecast" could be a couple of knots plus or minus as a minimum.

How small would you keep?
Just saw that Scott from Scott Gray Fishing is getting on some school Tuna, mainly small around the 8kg mark with the odd better sized. Re: Never Underestimate The Power Of Nature
Good to hear you were safe mate. Its a bit of a slog to get up to warneet/tooradin from down there when you're against the elements. I've done tooradin against the tide and having to stick to the channel...its just goes on and on. I do think that the true moral is probably with regards to: I hadn't ...

Welcome. Great place to be and we have many members with a wealth of knowledge who are also willing to share. Regarding the safety, most (if not all) advocate that you practice re-entries. That is, you are able to get back on your kayak should you capsize. There is nothing worse than being faced wit...

Re: A stranger in the night
Small leaks in big boats is no biggy, in fact some water in the bilge is normal, but a small leak in the hull of a sit on top kayak, especially one that has no access for bailing and you dont know until you have lost all stability. Just dont have those margins for error. Yes, my reservation also Ke...
