Outback Seat Upgrade

Hi All,

Having seen the latest seat upgrade on the 2015 model, I thought I would take advantage of the 30% off sale at BCF on the Blueline Tinnie Seat.

Sale is on until Monday [$70].

Very simple / solid installation.

I haven't been on the water due to the crap weather - but it feels good sitting in my garage.

Cheers

Ken

A couple of extra pics. The only hardware required is 2 X 6mm D shackles, a bit of electrical conduit & noodle.

Have you had a chance yet to try the seat out & how stable is Outback with it?

Hi Yacko, really happy with it. I've needed to adjust my pedals from full reach to 5, so it is a bonus if you are long in the leg. Definitely dryer and have found it easier to pedal and paddle at the same time. Only a slight change is stability, but well worth the $70. Cheers Ken

I dont think there is any need to turn them - they just mold themselves into the side / top of the yak and provide a cushion affect. I have been out fishing twice now and have put the original seat up in the cupboard - no longer required. After 3 hours fishing with the new seat - no back or bum soreness at all! And totally dry!! I picked up another seat for $40 [BCF online] and have adapted to my wife's Hobie Sport. This means, when I go out with a mate, I can use the Sport without having my knees up around my ears.

Thanks for the info.
I might give the plastic boat seat a try. I went to BCF on Monday for their sale but the boat seats they had I were more padded than yours (unless the others were sold out) and I thought were way too bulky. They had standard one's like yours but no padding.

I had been looking for some sort of aluminium frame like the new Hobie's but they're around $290+ (way too much).
I did see a basic style one on Ebay for $60 but I'd need to modify it's base frame to fit in the bottom of my yak.

I ordered mine online through a BCF branch in QLD and collected it from Mornington BCF [no freight charge - not sure how that worked]. I'm not sure how it would suit your kayak but it sits perfectly in my Hobie.

I just checked my seat width base and I can only go 40cm wide and these are 53cm wide so they work on mine
Looks like I'm going to have to by something and modify it to fit :yahoo:
