For those of you that don’t know me, my name’s Josh Carpenter and I’m lucky enough to work for Hobie Cat® Australasia and I am even luckier to have qualified to represent Oz at the Hobie Fishing Worlds next week in Austin, Texas. I qualified for the Aussie team by coming second in the St Georges Basin round of the Daiwa Kayak Fishing Series World’s qualifying tournaments that were held throughout Australia earlier this year.
I’m going to write a blog each day from my perspective with some stories from the day and I’m going to try and post as many pics as I can to the Hobie Fishing Australasia Facebook page. So hit the like button on the Facebook page and it will all pop up in your feed.
With my last few weeks being busy with two other fishing tournaments and a wedding I haven’t really had time to prepare but it hit me like a ton of bricks on Monday that it is actually happening in a few days. I have hurriedly been trying to distil my fishing gear down to a manageable weight to get on the plane (having found out that my rod tube will count as one bag and only having 23kg for the rest) and tying up other loose ends like travel insurance.
The journey begins now. I’m excited to be about to meet so many top anglers from other countries and I’m really looking forward to the good natured “smack talk” between the Aussies and the Yanks that already seems to be brewing .
So share this with your friends and check your feed for updates from now until the Worlds is done.

Will be good to see how all the Aussies go over thereon a different species from the Bream.
Good luck Josh, we will be keeping an eye on all the updates that come through.
Lets see if you boys can retain the title.
Cheers Dale.
