Hey Guys! How cool are Kayaks! I have a swordfish 270 and i bloody love it- haven't got it out of the garage yet as i am petrified of water but my psych reckons i will be good to go by 2018- currently testing my nerves having a bath- it's scary but i can see improvement in the future- do you guys know of any calm waters i can practice my tolerance in???

Happy Kayaking-

Hi Fergus,
Welcome to vyak mate.
Let us know where are you located and I'll try to point you in the direction of sheltered water near you.

G'Day fergus,

Welcome to VYak & congrats on your purchase.

4 easy steps to help your psych if planning to get on the water by 2018 ?

1. Read the safety section on this forum
2. Leave your new kayak in the garage until you can arrange instruction/supervision.
3. Practice swimming.
4. Enrol in a beginners kayak course ASAP and get taught how to paddle in safety & re enter in case you fall off.

Two companies I know of that run beginners courses in Vic
East coast Kayak run courses off Sandringham
Sea Sherpa run courses off Altona
(No affiliation).
