Cheaters Skiff

Post by cheaterparts »

Well it's not a kayak this time but my take on a micro skiff - I haven't gone for a flat bottom but as a modified Vee hull instead but with only 4 deg dead rise at the transom
and a Vee type bow

doing it as a stitch and glue thing - spec are about 410 cm long and 126 cm beam and plan to make it to use a 10 - 15 hp and looking at a 2 stroke mainly for the weight

I made up a 1/3 scale model to make sure my drawings worked out and it all stitched up fine

so for a start on the full size boat I've now got the 3 main bulkheads,2 main stingers and the transom pieces cut out -- the transom is 2 x 6 mm and 1 x 9 mm marine ply that need to be glued making a 21 mm think transom

2 large holes in this will drain any water that comes over it - the floor is raised above the bottom and will be sealed with flotation inside ( unsinkable )

so that's my new project - I post up more as I go along
My kayak PBs
Gummy shark 128 Cm -- Elephant fish 85 Cm -- Snapper 91 Cm -- KG Whiting 49 Cm -- Flathead 55 Cm -- Garfish 47 Cm --Long tail Tuna 86 cm -- Silver Trevally 40 Cm -- Cobia 117 Cm -- snook 53 Cm -- Couta 71 Cm -- Squid 44 hood length

Looks good so far Cheater.
I cleaned out my garage today so I can see mine again. Once the kayak stuff is all set up in the factory I’ll have space to tinker with it on the weekends again but at this rate you’ll finish yours before me.

Looking good Cheater, looking forward to following the build  I followed one built on YouTube by Tommy Turtle although he was realy just helping the guy (while learning) who built it.

I plan for mine to be a lot lighter than his. Hoping to get it in the 60 to 65 kg bare hull add 27 kg for a 2 stroke 10 hp makes it quite manageable to beach launch like the heavier kayaks

Yeah i think his would be very heavy with all the partitions adding heaps of extra weight with resin.
