Hi guys,
Now that Christmas is over, I'm champing at the bit to go out in the yak!
Living in Altona, light north winds are my friend but they are few and far between.
Can anyone advise a good place to go during light southerly winds in the west?
Tuesday is looking like a nice light southern wind and I'm hoping to get out somewhere.
Is Geelong ok?
Also, does anyone know what wind conditions are good for Lake Eppalock?
Is wind as much of a factor on a lake?
where to go - southern winds

Areas of Geelong can be OK, however I'd be heading to Clifton Springs as it will give you the best protection and some good fishing options.

Avalon beach is ok on light southerlies.
I was out at werribee south today on a surfski and it was rough hardly even any boats out, white caps not kayak fishable, 13knots southerly. Its not just local wind speed, but if its high in the middle of the bay the waves pick up
Always somewhere to hide in the lakes the problem is if you have to cross it to get back and its blowing directly down the lake it can get deceptively rough...ergo if in doubt stick to the shore you launch from

I agree with Shane regarding Clifton springs. I currently have a Revo 13 and live in St Leonards. Clifton springs is my goto if weather is rough and wind is not from the west. Lots of grass banks with sandy bits to try in between if it looks like being too rough to go far offshore. I will always have a look at Corio bay as well.
No, those lures aren't new......I've had them for ages.......honest......
