Just like some of my stupid mates that don't put a seat belt on till I yell at em, or I refuse to drive any further.
And everyone knows that law.
I survived the June 2012 Vyak server crash, just.

Your not wrong Daz, exactly as you described.

I got to Millers as these guys wearily hung around on the shore. Darren filled me in on the on goings and pointed out he got it all on camera and its certainly gotten attention.

In all seriousness I very much doubt they were told they don't need anything like jackets. I'm sure they were told and they have done the "I'm awesome attitude ill be standing tying my shoelace drinking a stubby and fighting a 10 kg snapper all in the one go".

In their defense they have probably had seen the likes of most members out there and thought it was a piece of piss and that its fine to leave your brain in the glovebox to keep it dry.

And I also doubt those two will get the chance to put the sport under anymore scrutiny due to a preventable accident. My bet is those 2 yaks are as good as sold. So check eBay if your after a slightly soggy used dented kayak

Ohh and Darren in your tag for YouTube out epic fail watch the view counter. Make an example

First up, congratulations to you Rhino for the way in which you handled the situation and spoke with him, always an ambassador of the sport. It would be interesting (if the shop owner involved in the sale was know), if they were shown that video and asked to comment, what their reply would be and how they looked at future sales.

Without a doubt, a foolish endevour, so many things wrong, it deserves a list. In fact I think it would be quite a constructive exercise for us to add, that way, if someone happens to know no better, they may just learn something.

If I (deliberately) miss anything, please cut/paste and add;
No PFD's, Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 required under Victorian regulations.
No Paddle leash attached to the paddle.
Adding water for ballast is a big; NO.

One thing I have noticed, and while in one way, would like to express the same emotions. I feel it is better to be restrained as Rhino was.
These guys have no idea what to do, that is easy to be seen. But what are the chances of either of them coming forward to ask for help, when we are calling them every name under the sun. How can we better teach, if people are to scared to come forward and ask for help.

I am not a moderator, but in the interest for a better forum where beginners to the sport are always made to feel welcome, I would ask that you all re-frame from name calling. It does us and those concerned no good.

When we say it's BIG RED SEASON, we don't mean a big red blood stain on the bay,
GET YOUR LIGHTS ON + YOUR PFD'S.

Happy Sailing Fishing and keep blowing bubbles.
Cheers

Its great you stepped in and offered advice and on top of that the guy was taking in what you had to say (not angry but still not really in taking advice or understanding)
I think its great you took the chance of getting punched in the nose to help protect your sport
most ppl without the IQ to under stand simple safety will just resort to anger if challenged :!:
