Re: Fish scent/attractants - useful or not?
I've just started making up my own burley but some of the stories on the forum, re big things grabbing burley buckets have me a little ....mmm....wary. I will give it a go though, just as soon as is weather improves a little.
cheers Ray

i use berley all the time and when it runs out i find the bites drop off a bit and i have only had that one run in with a shark that gave me a tow .
give it a go and if something takes u for a ride just cut the rope

After 10 years of fishing with gulps and other scented plastics.
Then making my own with no scent ( and having no trust in them ) I catch more fish on my homemade lures
I don't think scent has anything to do with it.
It all comes down to the action of the lure and the action you impart onto the lure.
And I never berley

We have proved to ourselves in the Bream comps that it definitely works on Bream. With scent on the plastic Bream will pick up the plastic when it's just laying still on the bottom and when the bites die off, apply more S factor and the bites return.
Another good scent is Dizzy's Borgs Tournament Gel.

Thought I would add that even if you don't find the scent works, it does cover up the scent from your hands (sunscreen, oil etc.)

People laugh at me because I'm different, I laugh at them because they're all the same.
