G'day all,

As some of you know I am building a trailer to transport our 2 kayaks.
After a lot of thought it was the best option for us to go with.

It started with me buying a 6x4 trailer yesterday, only to get it in the shed and realise it was too rusty and wasn't worth repairing.

I have decided to save what bolt on parts I can from the 6x4 and build a new custom trailer from scratch.

I will be posting updates along with pictures on here for anyone that wishes to follow the build.

So far we have only built the chassis, it is constructed from 50x50x1.6 steel and measures 2200mm x 1150mm

All of this looks very familiar!

Hey serge, yeah mate. Taken them out a few times, very happy with them.

Should be just about finished the trailer by tomorrow night.

Is it for your kayaks only or will it be a garden trailer also.
The only advice I could give would be to make the trailer wide enough to fit wider kayaks if u decide to upgrade in the future.
Saves u chopping and changing later.

It's a dedicated kayak trailer, I already have a custom cage trailer I built for general use a few years ago.

The width isn't a major issue as the kayaks will be mounted on a 45 degree angle if you get what I mean. Sort of like a J rack arrangement.

Ok, bright and early start to the trailer!

Hopefully have it ready for paint by the end of the day!
